1/2 size electric guitar tuning

by Scott
(Pauls Valley Oklahoma)

I just bought a 1/2 size electric guitar for my son. When I try to tune it, I can get it to standard tuning, but when notes are fretted, they are 1/2-1 step off pitch. I tried quick strobe tuning using a tuner but still no luck. Is this common or did I get a bad neck?

Tune the guitar up
by: Ritchie

I had the same problem with a 1/2 size guitar for my son. I discovered that due to the extremely short neck length, you need to tune them up to GCFA#DG or ADGCEA to prevent problems with intonation.

HTH,

Ritchie
