Gibson history
by: Cory B.

well, If you're not positive its a '96 the original here's a story. the 1958 - 1959 les paul guitars when they came out didnt sell pretty much at all, so Gibson designed a new guitar (what we now know as an SG) and called it the les paul BUT! Les Paul him self didn't like the guitar and didn't want his name on it, so it was re-named the Solid Guitar, or SG. in the early sixties, guitars that looked like SG's are actually les pauls. the original les paul design wasn't made again until 1968. so either that, or the truss rod cover was replaced with one that said les paul. either way you're playing quite the awesome guitar. Enjoy it!
