yes fender are well known and produce some brilliant guitars electric and accoustic, bying a decent guitar will give you the edge,also gibson,ibanez,there are so many to choose from,get yourself a monthly guitar mag and pick up some tips,playing guitar is a lifelong gift so enjoy learning, good luck.....

well, it depends mostly on what kind of sound you prefer. so if you like a fat, trebly sound i recommend a gibson. or if you like a clean, bright sound then fender is the guitar for you. so try out a few guitars and you'll know which one suits you best.
