Bass Guitar Tuning - How to begin

Bass guitar tuning can be very tricky if you have never done it before, or if you are a beginner at it. It is best to find someone you can trust to help you tune your instrument with you a few times before you attempt to do it on your own.

Make sure you don’t have someone else do it totally for you, but have that person do it with you. You will never learn to tune your own guitar if someone else is always doing it for you. After two or three times tuning together, you can have your helper simply watch from afar to make sure you have it under control.

You might want to think about investing in a bass guitar tuner to help your efforts further. There are some great choices on market from well known name brands like Fender and Ibanez. You can find manual tuners or electric tuners and there is a wide range of features to be had with these bad boys.

Whatever you choose, make sure it is easy to understand and use until you are comfortable with tuning your bass guitar on your own. At this point, you may not even have a need for a tuner while bass guitar tuning. With some practice, you may be able to tune it by the ear. Tuning doesn’t always come easy to some people, so you may have to use a tuner indefinitely. In this case, invest in a good quality tuner that will last you for years.
