So you're one step closer to changing electric guitar string. You've taken out your sixth string and now you're ready to put it back on. Remember we're changing the strings one at a time. So don't make the mistake of removing all your strings at once. Let's proceed.
Feed the string through a hole in the body of your electric guitar, or the tail piece. Perhaps the bridge or end stop of your electric guitar. It all depends on what model of guitar you have. There are several variations. I'm sure you checked how your string came off so it shouldn't be too difficult. All you're doing is reversing the process. Get the ball end of your string in place.
Pull the string over the bridge, over the nut of the neck, and past the tuning peg. Make sure it isn't slack. Cut some of the string off. I like to leave about two inches past the tuning peg. Just enough to wind around the peg.
Got that? Let's continue changing electric guitar string.
Pull the string through the hole of the tuning peg and begin winding it. Place your fingers under the string so that it isn't slack.
Again it depends on the guitar you're using. Some come with some tuning pegs on the right side and some on the left. Some of them come with tuning pegs only on one side. Use the string winder to wind those on the left side clockwise and those on the right side anticlockwise. Wind the string until it is tight.
So now that you've finished changing electric guitar string, all you have to do now is tune the string. Take off the string winder and use the tuning peg to tune
the string.
Repeat the process for all the other strings.
Since your strings are new they will tend to stretch during the first 24 to 48 hours. This is referred to as breaking in. The strings need to break in. To speed up the process, you will need to give the strings a few gentle pulls or do some spirited strumming.
You will be delighted with a set of fresh electric guitar strings. Your guitar will sound so much better.
