electric guitars

ok hi... i went to a store and i saw a lot of different guitars some look fat and round and some look skinny and thin.... some had 10 cords!!!
i would like to know EVERY THING about electric guitars and how to play them really good like a rockstar...lol and i would love to know the difference between all of them OR WHAT...... DO THEY SOUND DIFFERENT JUST BECAUSE THEY LOOK DIFERRENT???
