ESP LTD M100FM Flame Maple Electric Guitar Review
This is a review of the ESP LTD M100FM Flame Maple electric guitar.
Before we go any further let's look at its features. They include Bolt-on 25.5" scale maple neck, ESP LH-100 pickup set, volume, 3-way switch, tone controls, black hardware, Agathis body with flamed maple top, Floyd Rose-licensed tremolo, and a Rosewood fretboard with XJ frets and model name at 12th fret.
The ESP LTD M-100FM Flame Maple sells for $279 online. For the price it's not bad. If you're a metalist on a modest budget, you can consider this guitar. Also, a good guitar for beginners. Later on you can always invest in something more expensive.
This is a well-made guitar. It's solid, heavy and balanced, and very strong. Take care of this guitar and it's sure to last. I'm also pretty impressed with the see thru black finish. For such a low price, I really liked its full, tight and well projected tone.
ESP LTD M100FM Review
One of my disappointments with this guitar is the Floyd Rose unit. I found it to be very poor. The guitar doesn't stay in tune and things get even more complicated when you pull the whammy bar. But remember you're only paying $279 so you can't expect it to compare with a guitar worth several hundreds. Also, if you buy this guitar, be prepared to change the pickups. Buy some Semour Duncan JB or maybe Screamin Demon humbuckers. It all depends on the style you play. You may also need to get a trem-stabilizer to help you with the tuning.
Overall, despite its limitations, this is still a good beginner's guitar. Again it's low-priced so it will always have shortcomings. But it can be upgraded. Be sure to check out some other reviews to decide whether or not this guitar is right for you.
