Review of Fender Mustang Bass Guitar

The Fender Mustang Bass is a vintage styled bass guitar which has been reissued by the company. It has a great classic look, and is available in fiesta red or vintage white, with a pearlized pick guard. The Mustang was originally released by Fender in 1964. The red bass has a white pearl pick guard, while the white bass has a tortoiseshell-look pick guard.

People who prefer a little smaller bass guitar like the Fender Mustang bass, with its 30 inch scale length. It has a split pick up that gives it a cool, vintage look. The body is made of alder, with a maple neck. The fingerboard is made of rosewood, with nickel silver frets and dot inlays. It has 19 frets. Controls on the body include one for volume and one for tone. The strings run through the body, and each saddle is individually adjustable.

The Fender Mustang bass is reported to have a large bass sound and be basically worth the $560 price tag, although some purchasers feel like it is overpriced. The price tag does not include a case or any accessories besides a hex nut for adjusting the saddles. Cases can be hard to find, with the special Fender case costing well over $100.

The Fender Mustang bass is reported to have a very low action making it extremely easy to play. In fact, some purchasers actually choose to raise the action a bit.

Some of the original Mustangs are still around, of course, but they carry a collector's price tag. Still, you might have the option of getting one of these fine old basses in blue instead of just white or red. The headstock on the original basses from 1964 were small, but the ones that came out in '65 and '66 had a new larger headstock. By 1970, there were a wide variety of color options with the Fender Mustang bass.
