Gaskell Classic - left handed Explorer shape

Gaskell Classic - left handed Explorer shape

Gaskell Classic - left handed Explorer shape

The Gaskell CLASSIC is a left handed Explorer. Lefty Explorers are not made by Gibson and haven't been since the 1980's. As far as I know there are no other guitar companies making left handed Explorers today, even Hamer, Dean and Tokai, who also make Explorers as well as Gibson. Peavey and Ibanez make a sort of Explorer looking guitar - but neither in left hand as well.)

The Gaskell Classic is powered with Wilkinson pickups, which, if you don't know of that brand, are a popular, high quality UK brand. Wilkinson are also famous for general guitar accessories, such as tuners, bridges, etc.

Being a lefty guitarist, owning a left hand Explorer-esque guitar is quite a treat. The Gaskell Classic sounds great, stays in tune, has a 3way selector and has 2 x Tones and 1 x Volume - which is different from the Gibson original.

Colour choices are pretty good: White with black pick guard, Natural with either white or black pick guard, sunburst with white pick guard, black with white pick guard, transparent red with white pick guard, and you can also get custom colours.

The guitar is made of basswood up until 2010. Now it is made from Japanese ash, aka "Sen" or "Sen ash" which is very lightweight, but looks beautiful in natural finish and sounds good.

Gaskell Guitars is the only guitar company in the world that makes just left handed guitars. They have a very good reputation and their customer service is second to none. They are located in Australia. If you live in the USA or Canada you can buy direct from the USA distributor. If you are in the rest of the world their are plenty of Australian shops that can send you one.
