Gibson 61 Reissue SG Review
Gibson 61 reissue sg review.
Finally I get a chance to review the Gibson SG '61 Reissue electric guitar. If you're looking for a guitar that provides a pure vintage vibe and a tone that is red hot, this may just be what you need. The guitar is light, comfortable and playable. Last time I checked it was being sold online for about $1,589.99. and was available in heritage cherry and sapphire blue.
The Gibson 61 reissue SG electric guitar includes the following features: a mahogany body and bound neck, Gibson Classic '57 humbuckers at the neck and bridge, Rosewood fretboard, nickel hardware, and tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece. It is sold along with a Gibson hardshell case.
One of the things I really like about the Gibson 61 reissue SG is the fact that it is so light. I have access to several electric guitars and after playing this one it makes the others feel very heavy. The Gibson SG is actually a little heavy in the neck.
You should be absolutely delighted with the 57' Classic humbuckers on this guitar. The fretboard is smooth and natural. I plugged this guitar into a Marshall TSL 100 and experienced truly amazing sound, just like Angus Young, I might add.
One of my disappointments is where the strap button is located - on the back. Since the guitar is so light, it makes the guitar tilt out just a little too much. But I understand that this may not be a big issue to some.
I also don't think that this guitar has the true quality of the older SG 61 Reissues. In an effort to save money, they have changed things like tuners and other parts. This is just a small complaint since I think that overall, the Gibson 61 Reissue SG is an excellent guitar.
Relatively speaking, the price of this guitar may be a little high. But I certainly think it's worth the effort. It's better to buy something good and keep it for a long time instead of buying a crappy guitar that you have to keep on replacing.
I've read some very favorable Gibson 61 reissue SG reviews online. Everyone who has played it seems to have something good to say. I advise you to read customer reviews yourself to see what owners have to say about the SG, before making a decision as to whether or not it is right for you. Be sure to compare it with other electric guitars in its class as well.
