Godin Summit CT OR Gibson Les Paul Studio

I have played both Godin guitars (Own a Solidac) and Gibson's (Owned both an SG and a Firebird) and have found the Godin guitars to be quite cost effective and good value for the money.
Have never owned a Gibson Les Paul Studio and there is a Faded Brown one available going for about $950 new; comparable price to the Godin Summit CT.
Which do you think has the better humbuckers?
The Godin Summit CT with Seymour Duncan's in it or the Gibson Les Paul Studio with the 490 and 498 alnico humbuckers in them?

i have a summit and have played the less paul offten, the tone on the less paul is reletively simmilar to the sumi,t although the semour duncands offer a nicer higher range, the alnico a better lower range. its your choice.

The Summit is by far the better instrument. Totally solid, high end components and way more tonal options.

Les Paul or Godin Summit

I've owned several USA Gibson Les Pauls and although the sound is generally very good (sometimes made better by adding different pickups), I always found the necks to be sticky and sometimes just too fat (LP Custom).
I recently tried a Godin Summit and was immediately comfortable with the neck and could hear rich Les Paul type tones but was also able to get useable stratty/tele sounds on the 5 position switch and the active switch.
The Godin is far more versatile.

Our main problem is that we are such victims of guitar fashions and what looks cool. I think the Godin is as good as any Les Paul or even PRS I've ever owned and I will be buying ones ASAP.

Summit v Studio Faded

I own a Les Paul Studio faded brown, and have a Godin Summit on order. I already own a Godin xtSA. The Godins are beautifully built guitars.

The Les Paul Studio Faded in fact has Burstbucker pickups, unlike the other Les Paul Studios. The Gibson pickups produce superb harmonically rich sounds, characteristic of Gibson, but I was very disappointed with the workmanship and finish on the Gibson; they cut corners on their lower priced guitars.

The pickups on the Summit are akin to the 59 PAF humbuckers, and give a beautiful creamy tone without harshness. With the coil taps and revoicer a whole new set of sounds are available. I would not hesitate to recommend thss beautiful instrument, even compared to a Les Paul Standard or a high end PRS. Godin produce magnificent guitars.

Godins are extremely quality instruments. Every one I've played has been extremely comfortable; can't say the same about Gibson. Also, I feel like the Godin is a more quality instrument too and though I haven't played a Summit specifically, if it can do what other Godins can then it's a no-brainer.

Really, there is no comparison between a Godin and a Gibson. The Gibson may have the brand recognition but quality control is severely lacking. Godin everytime

Guys Is the godin a good rock gutar because I have a Gibson Les Paul standard and a good Mexican strat but want another good rock guitar which godin(s) is the best for rock music ? Thanks

The Godin is an excellent rock guitar. Has a great Les Paul tone (+ strat territory on the in-between settings) and is a complete workhorse. Mine is up to 29 gigs with no problems at all

iv played both guitars. the summit is a hell of alot better.i bought a summit over the gibson.the sounds is amazings and its alot easier to play on than the studio.dont get a gibson cuz of the brand. now a days people buy the brand. not the quality of the instrument. godins not that famous but the quiality is EXECELLENT. get the godin. and its LOOKS AWESOME TO! :D

Godin is best for me NEW

Hi. Been playing for 50 years, rocking and bluesing for almost that long. I play at least two or three hours every day.

I will never buy another guitar except Godin! I love these suckers. Way better than any others I have played over the years. Especially after you have your luthier set it up since the dealers rarely do an adequate job of it.

The Summit is a beautiful guitar. It's the first guitar I ever owned that "sings" to me. I'd heard of this before but never heard a guitar do that until now.

The late great Ed Roman said a lot of the high end "boutique" guitar brands were actually made by Robert Godin factory.

Anyhow, that's my opinion. I have classic "big name" guitars.. for show. But what I play every day is Godin.
