Ibanez SA160 Review

Ibanez SA160 Review

Let's take a look at the Ibanez SA160 electric guitar. This guitar is mainly for beginners or someone on a tight budget. Last time I checked it was being sold for the low price of $239.95 at a leading online musical instruments store. This may be a good option for a young student. There is probably no need to spend too much money on an instrument when one is just starting out.

The colors available include quilted maple amber, royal blue and black. My favorite happens to be royal blue.

Features of the Ibanez SA160 electric guitar include a 2-point Ibanez TZ30 standard fulcrum tremolo, high output power sound pickups, and the versatility of the Ibanez special 5-way switching system. Its tapered mahogany body results in warm bottom end comfort as well as lighter weight.

As a beginner's guitar, I think this is a pretty decent guitar. Good for the price.

I like the fact that it comes with a five way pickup selector. I tried it out and was very pleased with the various sounds the Ibanez SA160 was able to produce. This is a great feature. You get everything from heavy metal to classic rock.

The guitar comes with only one volume control and one tone knob. Well as a beginner's guitar you can work with this. It's true that you would prefer more controls. But remember you're not paying much at all. The controls on the Ibanez SA 160 electric guitar do what they're supposed to do.

I am disappointed with the whammy bar. I found that you have to constantly tune the guitar when you use it. And that's not fun at all. If you don't mind tuning your electric guitar frequently then go for it. Otherwise just refrain from using the whammy bar.

What are some of the things that may go wrong after using the Ibanez SA160 electric guitar for a few years? Well in my experience, the volume knob became loose. And this was no big deal because all it took was a simple tightening with a screw driver. Also, after a number of years you may experience a crackle in the pickup selector when you switch from one pickup to another. These are the only problems I've come across - not bad at all.

All in all, a good guitar for the price.
