Input Jack Issue??

by Danielle
(Canada)

I just bought a Takamine Jumbo about 3 months ago and I am having some issues with the input jack. Usually a few minutes after I plug in my Takamine to my amp and I start playing, the cable will pop out of the input jack. I have invested good money into quality instrument cables and I have tried using different kinds, so I doubt that my cables are the issue. I took the guitar in for a set up about a month ago and they said that nothing was wrong with the jack. They just said to make sure that I put the cable through the strap, which I always do, so I have no idea what could be wrong with it.

Can you maybe suggest a reason as to why this is occurring and a possible solution?

Well first things first, did you buy it new 3 months ago or used? if you bought it new i would make them replace the jack tell them your not satisfied with it, busnesses know the customers come first, if they have a guitar tech they should be able to do it while you wait they will just have to pull the strings & remove the jack & throw a new on, if you bought it used did you get an extended warrenty some places offer that such as Daddys Junky Music but most places offer only 15-30 days on used gear,if all that fails you could do it yourself,... ok heres what you do depending on if theres a hole big enough to get your arm in, pull the strings reach in towards the input jack, be careful with the wires, you will feel a large metal prong it is probley bent out & causing your cable to fall out, bend it in slightly towards the input hole, then take your guitar cord & plug it in to see if its a tighter fit keep working with it until the cord stays in firmly that should do it...note: if its them plastic box type jacks you will need to re-place it as there are no adjustments!! hope this helps you & good luck!!
