When your hands and fingers become accustomed to picking and holding down strings you will be able to take on new challenges more easily. There are many ways to go about learning to play the bass. You can hire a teacher, or invest in some good instructional books and videos. Or check out an online bass guitar course or ebook. But whatever you do just don't give up and you'll be surprised at how skillful you will become.
