Mini Bass Guitars
Mini bass guitars are perfect for persons with small hands. These include children, particularly those below the age of 11. They are also appropriate for adults with a short reach. Full-size bass guitars are just too difficult to play when you have such small hands.
Mini bass guitars or short scale bass guitars are available in 1/2 and 3/4 scale sizes. For children below the age of 8, try 1/2 size bass guitars. For children between 8 and 11, 3/4 size basses are most suitable. These are average figures - it all depends on your child's reach.
If you want your child to develop an interest in playing the bass guitar, mini basses are the way to go. They are easier to play because of their short scale and thin neck. Your child will be able to learn basic skills more easily. He or she will have more fun playing.
A full scale bass can lead to lack of interest. This is because of the level of difficulty involved in reaching those far away notes, and the fact that your fingers must be stretched frequently.
Adults with small hands can buy a 3/4 inch or 30 inch scale bass guitar. There's no need for bass playing to be difficult or uncomfortable. Make things easier.
There are many brands and models of 1/2 scale and 3/4 scale bass guitars to choose from online. You should be able to find one that is right for you easily.
