re stringing an electric guitar

by nick czapi
(vancouver, BC)

hey im a newbie. and i just bought a cheap academy electric guitar, and i thought that it was important to restring it. now the bridge i have a 6 parts (metal pieces) where the strings are supposed to come through. and i took them off and the back piece of the guitar to stick the strings through, and then tried to put the parts of the bridge back on, except now they don't fit. and when i tried to tune it, it wouldn't play because the strings are too close to the pickup closest to the bridge. and i can't seem to find any help online about restringing it. please can someone send me a link that would help, or offer some advice. remember i'm a newbie, who could just use a hand.

God Bless,

Nick C.

Restringing Your Academy Guitar
by: Anonymous

Hello, I have the same guitar and I think your problem is that your action is too low. To adjust your action, you turn the bridge screws(closer to the jack plate)clockwise to make the bridge raise. This increases the height of the saddle and the fret. You could visit the Vancouver Public Library and find books on guitars. I would suggest "The New Complete Guitarist" By: Richard Chapman. I would say the Academy electric guitar is a reasonable choice for a beginner like myself.
