Short Scale Bass Guitars

Short scale bass guitars are perfect for children and adults with small hands. They are particularly appropriate for children under the age of 11. For these youngsters you must choose between 1/2 scale and 3/4 scale bass guitars. It all depends on your child's reach.

Generally, when choosing short scale bass guitars for children you should choose 1/2 scale bass guitars for those 7 years and younger. For children 8 years to 11 years, try 3/4 scale bass guitars.

If you want your child to develop interest in playing the bass, do not buy him or her a full-scale bass guitar. A child's reach is not long enough. Your child needs a bass that has a short scale but also a thin neck as well.

Short scale basses are perfect for helping your child develop basic bass guitar playing skills. Since the notes are easier to reach, he or she will feel more comfortable and will learn more quickly.

Children are not the only ones who require small bass guitars. If you're an adult with small hands a 3/4 scale or 30 inch scale bass guitar may be just what you need.

Finding one of these basses online is easy. They're offered by many of the leading bass guitar brands such as Fender, Ibanez, ESP and Dean.
