Steinberger bass guitars

For something different, Steinberger bass guitars look neat and are well liked by many bassists. Ned Steinberger invented the first one in 1979. These basses have no headstock and some have a plain shaped body rather than the typical guitar shape, although Steinberger does make basses of the classic shape too.

Steinberger bass guitars are truly different than the rest. The design of the tuning is unique in that you can tune all your strings with one peg and change the pitch of the strings, too, when desired. It is guaranteed to never have any problems with the neck ever. These basses are durable, reported to last much longer than others and always sound great.

One of the differences in Steinberger basses is that they are made of carbon-graphite composite instead of a hard wood, like most basses. This makes the bass guitar light, and your shoulders will thank you for that. However, there are Steinbergers of the more classic design made of wood. The XL series are like the original L2 model that Steinberger made back in 1979.

Gibson is the company that now produces Steinberger. The tuning on these basses is described like this. The headless design has what's called a "double-ball tuning system" that stays in tune until you change your strings. Just tune it once! Really! That's what they say, anyway. Steinbergers advertise that they solve all of guitar players' traditional problems.

Steinberger bass guitars retail for around $900 to $1800. The Synapse XS-15FPA is a 5-string Steinberger bass that retails for just over $1800. It has innovations such as a direct-drive double-ball bridge, an EMG USA humbucker, and a phenolic fingerboard. It also features a fold down leg rest and an innovative strap hook. Steinberger is always looking for new ideas to improve life for bass players!
