A regular six string acoustic guitar would suffice. I would even say that the Beginner Guitar packages would be best. They come with beginners instruction manual, pics, a few easy songs to learn, and of course a guitar. You can find these for about $99 at Guitar Center, Wal*Mart, and I think Target too. They come as an acoustic and electric, only that for the electric you will need an amplifier. It all depends on your kind of music.
