what size electric guitar?

How do I measure my 8 year old son for an electric guitar, i know it will either be a 1/2 size or a 3/4 size but dont want to get the wrong one?

I would buy a 3/4 size guitar. That way, your son won't quickly outgrow it. Most of the electric guitars avaialable are 3/4 sized anyway.
